In August 2022, the ASE became the 4th regional hub of the Defense STEM Education Consortium (DSEC). This is a huge accomplishment for our STEM ecosystem since we have never held a grant award to advance and support our collaborative efforts to serve students and educators in STEM. It also helps us achieve one of our longest dreams- to have the resources and capacity to evaluate our STEM learning activities to measure and communicate its impact on students and educators.
Being that the ASE is not a 501c3 nor has administration capacity to manage a grant award on its own, IDRA stepped up as the co-lead of the ASE to be the grant managing partner and hub director, which has helped us tremendously to accomplish all our grant activities as a hub. Being a DSEC Hub means we are preparing the next generation of STEM professionals with a focus on underrepresented students. In our current grant year, we have successfully implemented the following activities to serve students and educators alongside our Hub Leads, SAMSAT and CyberTexas, and other ASE partners such as Region20 and the Alamo Colleges District.
